May 2024
Over the first bank holiday weekend in May, I took art at an arts and crafts fair at RHS Garden Wisley run by Craft in Focus. The event was from Thursday to Monday, but sadly half the footfall of previous years. Bad weather plus the continuing roadworks didn’t help. As well as my paintings, prints and cards, I am took my collection of terracotta flower pots featuring sections of my paintings.
I was happy to sell my largest painting on the first day – Shadows in the Wood, but little else over the rest of the time.
Leading up to Wisley I put together a good collection of reproduction prints, framed prints and prints on wood blocks, plus increasing my stock of cards. I now have enough for the July art trail and other events going forward. I started a series of small paintings to go alongside my newly painted pots.
The five paintings are 6″ square on wood, some in oils and some in acrylics.
The next event will be the Frome Open Art Trail, 6th – 14th July. The artists joining me will be Cameron Scott, carved wood reliefs, Jen Hamblin, paintings, Gerry McLoughlin, glass and Steven Jenkins, ceramics. This year there will be 87 artists on the trail in 31 venues! It takes place at the same time as the Frome Festival, so hopefully we will have a good number of visitors.
