Over the last few weeks I have been working on seascapes, mostly from Cornwall. I was inspired and motivated by a 3 day course in Newlyn School of Art last July when I attended a course on expressive landscape run by Luke Knight.

I brought back home a series of sketches and photos to work with, and have now had the time to start some paintings.

Our first day out was near Pendeen lighthouse looking at the rocks below a slope down to the sea. I’ve had some fun adding texture, though still more representational than I had intended. It is not so easy to change the way that I work, though I am happy with the third one in this mini series.
